Mayor’s Ball to raise funds for St. Baldrick’s

FULTON – The public is invited to join Fulton Mayor Jim Rice and friends on Friday, March 22 at The Tavern On The Lock for an evening of music, raffles, door prizes, and fun – all in an effort to raise life-saving funds for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

There will be a cash bar, celebrity bartenders, music by DJ Mystic Music – and Mayor Rice will have his own head shaved in a show of solidarity for sick children everywhere. The event is scheduled to run from 7-10 PM.

Tickets are $20 per person and can be bought on-line at The Mayor’s Ball – Fundraiser Dashboard (stbaldricks.org), or at the door.

According to the the St. Baldrick’s home page, “Worldwide, 300,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. And in the U.S., more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease—more than AIDS, asthma, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies, and diabetes combined.” The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is “volunteer and donor powered… (they) are the reason that the St. Baldrick’s Foundation can fund more grants than any organization besides the U.S. government.”

This year’s 18th annual St. Baldrick’s Day in Oswego County fundraising event is set for Sunday, March 24 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center at the Best Western Plus in Oswego. More than 20 volunteers will “Brave the Shave” and there will be raffles, a silent auction, live music, and more.
