Novelis 10Kan Halfway Event Planned July 9

OSWEGO, NY – Community members who will be taking part in the Novelis 10Kan this fall are invited to participate in a free July 9 event that marks the halfway point between the April kick off and actual races on Sept. 20.

The July 9 event, Halfway to the Novelis 10Kan, will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. near the pavilion at Breitbeck Park in Oswego.

Making plans for the Halfway to the Novelis 10Kan are Mike Perkins, of the Oswego Family YMCA, Coach Ron Nelson, Marion Ciciarelli, Oswego Health public relations manager; Jason Pratt, Oswego Health physical therapy department manager; Carol Dillabough, Novelis, Tricia Clark, Rural Health Network Deana Masuicca, Oswego Family YMCA; and Dorothy Bonney from Novelis.This family friendly event will offer activities for all ages including a kids fun run, bike rodeo, and an air hop.

The evening event will also give those interested in participating in this fall’s Novelis 10Kan events an opportunity to review the race courses that will include a walk, run and the new bike race.

“This will be an opportunity to learn the course before the Novelis 10Kan event,” said Mike Perkins, of the Oswego YMCA, who is coordinating the halfway evening of activities.

The race events, which will be 5K in length, will start at 6 p.m.

In addition, free health information and food will be available during the evening.

Those who participate in the halfway community event are encouraged to bring 10 aluminum cans to be used to support Novelis and its Habitat For Humanity project in Oswego County.

Those who bring 10 cans will be eligible to win gift certificates from Murdock’s Bikes and Cortini Shoes.

Sponsoring the Halfway to the 10Kan event are Novelis, Oswego Health, the Oswego YMCA, Tobacco Free, the Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Coach Ron Nelson, SUNY Oswego and the Oswego City School District.
