Oswego County Begins Fixed Asset Inventory Project

Submitted by Oswego County

The Fixed Asset Inventory Verification Project directed by the Oswego County Purchasing Department started on Monday, May 19. A team of six specialists from Lockwood Technology Inc. of Manchester, New Hampshire began to tag the county’s fixed assets with barcodes.

“As purchases are made, each department is provided with an updated list,” said Fred Maxon, Purchasing Director. “We are verifying those assets and developing the ability to track them through the use of barcode technology.”
Maxon continued, “This is the first in a series of steps we are taking to more efficiently track the items the county has ownership of.”

The Lockwood team has been tagging assets at each department throughout the county. Once the assets are verified, the purchasing department’s efforts to electronically track the county’s assets will be significantly enhanced.
