Oswego Woman Dies In Two-Car Crash

FULTON, NY – The New York State Police in Fulton are currently investigating a two-car fatal accident.

It reportedly occurred at the intersection of State Route 481 (southbound) and County Route 45 in the town of Volney.

At approximately 1:03 p.m., a 1998 Plymouth Voyager was being operated by Dorothy H. Peeling, 85, of 101 Schuyler St., Apt 12, Oswego, was westbound on 45 attempting to cross 481.

At that time, there was a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country being operated by June A. Alton, 40, of 676 Harris Hill Road, Hannibal, was southbound on 481.

According to the police report: Peeling failed to yield the right of way to Alton, entered the intersection and was struck by Alton’s vehicle.

Both vehicles came to rest near the southwest corner of the intersection.

Peeling was transported by Menters Ambulance to University Hospital, Syracuse, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Alton was transported by Menters Ambulance to St Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, where she is being treated for minor injuries.

State Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Dept. and Volney Volunteer Fire Dept.
