Phoenix Man Charged with Murder

From the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department:

Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh reports that a Phoenix man has been charged with murdering his sister-in-law.

Sheriff’s detectives have charged Larry N. Frank, 49, of 6 Pine Street, in Phoenix with murder in the 2nd degree in connection with the death of his sister-in-law Patricia Gryczka, 53, of Leslee Terrace, Town of Geddes. Detectives allege that Frank killed Patricia during the course of a robbery late Sunday afternoon.

Early yesterday morning at approximately 4:00am, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a suspicious person complaint in the 2900 block of Webb Road, where a homeowner witnessed an unidentified male in a wooded area near his property. The suspect immediately fled the scene after being confronted by the witness. When deputies arrived, they searched a wooded area where the suspect was seen and discovered a body near a ravine, later identified to be Patricia Gryczka.

The witness provided deputies with a license plate number and the description of the car being operated by the suspect. The vehicle registration information indicated that the car belonged to Patricia Grycska. Deputies and Geddes Police responded to Grycska’s home on Leslee Terrace and discovered what appeared to be a break in.

After interviewing several of neighbors on Leslee Terrace, deputies learned that Grycska’s sister and brother-in law lived in Phoenix. Deputies contacted the Village of Phoenix Police Department and requested them to contact Grycska’s family to see if they could provide any information. As the Phoenix Police Officer arrived at Frank’s home, Frank sped out of his driveway in his 2000 Nissan Altima and led the Phoenix Police Officer on a pursuit.

Managing to avoid being stopped, Frank continued traveling south to Clearfield, Pennsylvania where he was ultimately taken into custody by the Lawrence Township Police Department. Sheriff’s detectives contacted the Lawrence Township PD, after being alerted that the victim’s credit card was used at a Walmart in Clearfield.

Frank was located at approximately 5:30pm in the parking lot by Lawrence Township Police Officer Joseph Morris, who took him into custody without incident.

Frank has waived his right to extradition proceedings and will be returned to Onondaga County later this evening. missing or outdated ad config
