SCHROEPPEL, NY – State police have arrested a Pennellville man who is accused of leaving the scene after striking a 15-year-old boy with his vehicle.
Police said Jay B. Vantassel, 61, struck 15-year old Anthony Baker of Pennellville, with his vehicle Friday while traveling north on county Route 10. He subsequently fled the accident scene.
Baker was airlifted to University Hospital in Syracuse, where he is recovering from his injuries.
Vantassel is slated to return to Schroeppel Town Court at 7 p.m., Dec. 3, to answer the charge.
