FULTON – Fulton’s celebration of the total solar eclipse focuses on an afternoon of family fun. “Total Eclipse of the Park” takes place from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 8 at the Fulton War Memorial grounds at 609 W. Broadway.
Music provided by Twin Towers Music and a performance by Belle Royale Dance Academy lead up to the beginning of the eclipse at 2:08 p.m., with totality beginning at 3:23 p.m. and lasting about four minutes. Music resumes up to the end of the eclipse at 4:34 p.m.
Performances and food will take place in the ice rink at the War Memorial. Activities, including a bounce house, video gaming truck, face painting and more will take place in the parking lot in front of the rink. Eclipse viewing will take place in the field behind the War Memorial.
Glasses certified to be safe for viewing the eclipse will be given free to the first 500 attendees. The glasses were provided by Oswego County government. People should dress for the weather that day and should consider wearing boots as the ground can still be soft and muddy.
This event is a joint collaboration of the Fulton Special Events Committee, the City of Fulton Parks and Recreation Department and the Fulton City School District. Free activities are courtesy of a mini-grant from the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
