Police Monday afternoon named the person killed in Saturday’s explosion and fire in Schroeppel.
Curtis R. Staub, 63, lived at 227 County Route 12. He was a resident of the apartment, which was in a converted pole barn.
Fire officials searched the rubble for a possible second person but do not believe that person was there.
The fire was reported to 911 at about 6:10 a.m. Saturday, officials say, when a resident of a nearby home heard what sounded like an explosion.
The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
