I am a father, son, brother and a person who has lived in Fulton my whole life. I am one of the luckiest people in Fulton for the simple fact of who my father is.
He happens to be Ronald L. Woodward Sr. I am pround not only due to the fact that he just swept the mayoral race but because of what he stands for and who he is.
He is a man of honor, respect, honesty and loyalty. He is a man who cares for people and has cared his entire life. Anyone who really knows my father would understand this. Some of the things he has endured in his life would have made most men give up. To me, he is truly an angel.
In my opinion, this mayoral race was dirty and mean and yet my father kept it clean. My son, my mother, my brother and sister felt pain for my dad as we watched him hold his head high and take all the negativity in stride. In the end, the tactics that his opponents used to discredit him did not prevail. Hopefully these candidates will learn a lesson as they look at the voters’ response and reflect upon the campaign they ran.
As his son, I have to question why none of the candidates had the dignity or respect to stop by and congratulate my father on his win. I believe that it is the time for the former mayoral candidates to show how much you really care about our wonderful city by stepping forward and dedicating your time and your service to our city instead of continuing to bring negativity to the table. I challenge you to stand up and face the real issues and help our city grow.
In conclusion, I want the residents to know that I am very proud of my father and I will stand by him until the end. I would also like to take the time to thank everyone who voted and helped my father win this race. He truly is the only man for the job.
A very proud son,
Ronald L. Woodward Jr.
