FULTON – On February 12th, 2024, at approximately 6:25 pm, a vulnerable person was reported missing by his family. Recognizing the urgency of the situation and the need for additional resources, the Desk Officer in Charge quickly mobilized a City of Fulton drone operator to assist in the search and rescue effort. The drone was deployed around 7:50 pm to cover an area of wooded terrain around the 600 block of Gansvoort Street. By using the thermal imaging feature, the drone operator was able to locate the vulnerable person within the wooded area around 8:12 pm, and directed ground units to his location. The vulnerable person was found to be in good health and was assisted out of the woods by officers and reunited with his family.
This successful recovery effort underscores the importance of leveraging cutting-edge technology for the safety of our community and officers.
