The cub scout pack needed to conduct a conservation woodworking project to earn a merit badge, so their Den Leader Lynn Sweet, inquired of Brosch about what facility might need to conjunct with the cub scout pack’s project.

According to Brosch, the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center which is operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, was in need of wood duck houses.

After the scouts built the duck houses they donated them to the center, where they will be hung next year after the wood completely dries.

The wood duck houses will be placed in and around the beaver pond, providing captivity options for nesting birds like the wood ducks.

There are four other new duck houses that were hung by another scout group this past March.

Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center is 150-acre nature preserve and educational facility.

There are three miles of interpretive trails open to the public daily year round dawn to dusk.

The facility provides numerous environmental education programs to groups.

Youth groups including 4-H, scouts and faith based organizations use the facility.

Some of these groups conduct and provide community service initiatives.

For a list of programs and reservation information, contact Brosch at (315) 963-7286.
