Dear Editor,
As many are most certainly aware, the tax on a pack of cigarettes increased by a $1.25 on June 3rd. However, what most people do not realize is smoking has always increased their chances of dying prematurely. Young people, especially, may believe that they may not be affected by smoking. They may think that the only people affected by smoking are those that have done so for several years. New and seasoned smokers face smoking-related illnesses or deaths every day. There is no minimum time limit that accompanies when the dangers of smoking are going to start plaguing you!
Because new smokers are no more invincible than those who have smoked for several years, now is the time for all smokers to kick the habit! According to medical research, every time people light up a cigarette, they cut about five minutes off of their precious lives.
