LaBarge Recieves Lions Club International ‘Uplinger Award”

Fulton Lion Donald LaBarge (center) received Lions Clubs International’s Robert J. Uplinger Distinguished Service Award at the Fulton club’s Sept. 9 meeting, it was announced by Club President, James Sokolowski (right). Joining them is Immediate Past President Fred Aldrich. Established in 1993, the Uplinger award honors outstanding Lions, non-Lions and organizations that perform exemplary service to the club, district or community, Sokolowski said. “As the longtime chairman of our annual Labor Day Duck Derby and his willingness to help the club whenever necessary, Don represents the highest example of Lionistic character, ideals, purpose and service.” The Fulton club, with 60 members, is the largest and most active in their district. Lions clubs are committed to sight and hearing preservation. The Fulton Lions Club, also know for their Lions Loot Sweepstakes, provides financial assistance for those in need of eyeglasses, eye exams and hearing aids to residents in the Greater Fulton area.
