FULTON – Final plans are set for the 41st Annual Fulton Memorial Day Salute to be held Friday May 24th and Saturday, May 25th at the Fulton Community Center. The theme for this year’s event will be “HONOR AND REMEMBER”.

The event begins on Friday night with rides by Ontario Amusements at the Fulton Community Center from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., and all day Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m.  There will be ride specials on Friday night, $20 for unlimited rides and on Saturday, $25 for unlimited rides.

On Saturday morning, there will be a 5k run sponsored by the CNY Community Arts Center.  The run begins at the Fulton Community Center at 8:00 a.m.  To register go to www.cnyartcenter.com

The traditional parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.  David Ormsby, Veteran of the Year, will serve as parade Grand Marshal.

There will be food vendors at the Fulton Community Center all day on Saturday.

A dunk tank with local celebrities will run throughout the day.

Following the parade, several of the parade bands will play on stage.  This will be followed by a demonstration by Master Leo’s Tae Kwon Do studio.  The Fulton Community Band will take the stage from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.  At 3:30 p.m., Jojo Cortini and The Little Big Band, composed of members from the G. Ray Bodley High School Jazz Band, will perform big band hits.  This year’s headline musical act will be well-known local band Frostbit Blue, who go on stage at 6:00 p.m.

From 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. a watch fire will be held at Recreation Park, where gently used flags will be honorably disposed of.

The event closes with a fireworks display over Lake Neahtawanta at 9:30 p.m.

The Memorial Day Salute Committee is made up of representatives from the Lions, Kiwanis, Rotary and Sunrise Rotary service clubs, along with the Fulton Veterans’ Council. Major sponsors include the City of Fulton and Fulton Savings Bank.
