MID-DAY FIRE DISPLACES FOUR OCCUPANTS

SCRIBA  – On 2/26/2026 at 14:46 Scriba Fire Department was activated for a reported structure fire. Callers reported fire on the back of the house, during response it was updated that propane tanks were exploding.

Scriba responded with two chief officers and two engines. Working along side New Haven, Novelis, Volney, Minetto, and Mexico, multiple hose lines were deployed to extinguish the fire. Firefighters overcame heavy fire conditions. The home was occupied at the time of the fire and the residents were able to escape prior to arrival of first responders. One occupant was evaluated and released by Menter on scene. 

No firefighters were injured during the incident. The fire was brought under control at 15:57 and Scriba members cleared the scene at 17:54. Scriba Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Oswego County Coordinators, Oswego County Sheriffs, New York State Police, and Menter Ambulance. Palermo and Mexico provided coverage for the agencies on scene. The cause is being investigated by the Oswego County Fire Investigation Team.
