SANDY CREEK, N.Y. — The Oswego County Legislature has awarded the Oswego County Fair $110,376 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for vital upgrades and maintenance for the fairgrounds.
Oswego County Fair officials applied for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to assist with improvements that were initially planned for 2020 but, were halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the plan for spending funds will go towards fixing and upgrading restrooms, various electrical issues as well as adding speakers throughout the fairgrounds.
Legislator Michael Yerdon, District 1, said, “I am happy the Oswego County Legislature approved these funds, and I hope these improvements will further drive tourism to the fairgrounds in the coming years”.
The upgrades to the Oswego County Fairgrounds will drive tourism related events to be hosted not only by fair board members, but also by surrounding community partners. The Oswego County Fair encourages the Community to let them host upcoming events in Sandy Creek, NY.
The Oswego County Fair Grounds is a major tourism destination but, with these various improvements, the grounds can be utilized as a gathering location/shelter in the event of an emergency.
“It is imperative for residents of Sandy Creek and surrounding areas to have access to this location in the event of emergency for their safety” said Legislator Edward Gilson, District 3.
Oswego County legislature and ARPA task force work together to distribute funding in strategic ways to maximize the positive impact on the Community.
