OSWEGO – The AmeriCorps girls are at it again, helping the less fortunate, specifically, and looking out for the homeless here in Oswego County.

Asking the community for help has really been a positive. Oswego County has stepped up any time asked, so they are at it again.

AmeriCorps, located at 70 Bunner St., at the Oswego County Youth bureau offers in exchange for a term of service at a not for profit agency a monetary stipend to the enrolled individual for living allowance, and when the term is completed the enrollee receives a Segal education award which can be put toward student loans and/or current and future education plans.

The girls have chosen to do their good deeds at Victory Transformations located at 225 West First St. in Oswego. There are many people in Oswego County that need assistance, so the girls chose to give back to the community they live in.

They are asking for any donations that could be put in a backpack and be beneficial to a homeless man or woman. Some examples are shampoo, deodorant, soap, toenail clippers, chapstick, razors, body wipes, socks, water bottles, granola bars, packs of peanuts, and crackers.

Donations can be dropped off at the Victory Center, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will be making up the bags throughout the next few weeks and distributing them also at the Victory Center. If you are in need or you are able to donate, stop down and support the cause.
