Assault Investigation Results In One Arrest

OSWEGO, NY – At approximately 9:46 p.m. on Saturday, Oswego City Police responded to an assault complaint at 37 Murray St., Apt. B, in the city of Oswego.

The resident, Jeffrey J. Mitchelson, 29, alleged that several hours prior to him reporting the incident, two individuals had entered his residence and assaulted him.

Initial responding officers did not observe any apparent injuries to Mr. Mitchelson.

Members of the Oswego City Police Department Criminal Investigations Division responded to assist with the investigation.

The course of the investigation, including further questioning of Mr. Mitchelson, lead to the issuance of a search warrant for the residence.

While executing the search warrant police discovered allegedly unlawfully possessed hypodermic instruments.

As a result, Mr. Mitchelson was arrested and charged with possession of a hypodermic instrument, a class A misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in Oswego City Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility without bail.

He is scheduled to return to court on March 14, at 2 p.m.

The matter of persons allegedly entering his home is still under investigation.
