The candidate welcomed supporters and talked about his plans for job creation and protecting veterans.

“I’ve spent about 25 years of my career assisting in bringing jobs to our community. We have reached out to the Montreal market and brought in between 200 and 250 jobs, some large and some small, to the (Plattsburgh) community,” Owens said. “I think that is a template we can use around this district. There is no reason in the world why we can’t be bringing in Canadian companies.”

His focus will be on bringing new jobs into the district, he said.

Agriculture is also “extraordinarily important” around the district, he added.

“As we go forward in the campaign, there is one thing I am going to ask each of you to do. I want everybody to out and touch 25 people. Because if each of you touch 25 people and you ask them to touch another 25 people we have a great multiplier affect,” he said.

The goal is to get the word out, and get everybody on the ticket elected, Owens told the large crowd.
