Camden Teen Drowns In Kasoag Lake

OSWEGO, NY – Authorities are investigating a drowning on Kasoag Lake.

At about 1:10 a.m. today (May 25), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to Kasoag Lake in the town of Williamstown on a report of a possible drowning.

Nicholas Curtis Bastable, 17,  of 11421 Meagher Wells Road, Camden was one of three occupants on a two-man paddle boat that overturned in Kasoag Lake.

The two other occupants managed to swim to shore and escaped injury.

Bastable was unable to do the same and could not be located in the water, according to deputies.

Rescue efforts went under way to locate Bastable.

At approximately 3:56 a.m. Bastable’s body was recovered from the lake, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

This matter remains under investigation.

New York State Police, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office (Air One), Williamstown Fire Department, Sandy Creek Fire Department, West Amboy Fire Department, Parish Fire Department, Mexico Fire Department, Minetto Fire Department, Cleveland Fire Department, Constantia Fire Department, West Monroe Fire Department, Hastings Fire Department and Northern Oswego County Ambulance (NOCA).
