OSWEGO – The City of Oswego is alerting residents of recent reports involving individuals soliciting services within city limits without the required authorization. The City Clerk has received multiple notifications that these individuals are offering various services door-to-door without having obtained a valid Peddler’s Permit, as mandated under Section 180-2 of the Oswego City Code.

Section 180-2 states, “it is unlawful for any person to act as a peddler without first obtaining a permit from the City Clerk.” This requirement applies to all persons soliciting goods, services, or donations within the City of Oswego, regardless of age.

The City is issuing this notice to ensure residents are aware of the legal requirements and to help prevent unauthorized solicitation. Residents who encounter individuals offering services without proper identification or a City-issued permit are encouraged to exercise caution and contact the Oswego Police Department’s non-emergency line at (315) 342-8120 if they have concerns.

Mayor Robert A. Corradino stated, “Our goal is to protect residents and maintain transparency in all commercial activities conducted within the city. Permitting ensures accountability, safety, and compliance with our local law.”

The City Clerk’s Office remains available to answer questions regarding the permitting process for anyone wishing to legally conduct door-to-door sales or services. Contact (315) 342-8116 for more information.
