City of Oswego to Honor Fallen Firefighters with Memorial Ceremony

OSWEGO – The City of Oswego and the Oswego Fire Department will honor the lives and service of their fallen firefighters during the annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial Ceremony at 9am on Friday, May 1, at Fire Department Headquarters.

Held in conjunction with National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, the ceremony provides an opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The observance will include a solemn tribute recognizing the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of firefighters who gave their lives to protect others.

Proudly serving the City of Oswego since 1876, The Oswego Fire Department has suffered the loss of 10 firefighters in the line of duty, a legacy of sacrifice that continues to be honored by the department and the community it serves.

“Our department has experienced the profound loss of 10 brave members who gave their lives in the line of duty,” said Fire Chief Paul Conzone. “This ceremony is a time to honor their sacrifice, support their families, and reaffirm our commitment to never forget their service to the City of Oswego.”

“On behalf of the City of Oswego, we honor the bravery and dedication of the firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our community,” said Mayor Robert Corradino. “We stand with their families, and we remain deeply grateful for the courage and service of all those who continue to serve.”

Members of the Oswego Fire Department, city officials, family members, and community residents are invited to attend and pay their respects. The City of Oswego encourages all residents to participate in this important observance and to take a moment of reflection during National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.
