OSWEGO, NY – The snow continues to pile up. But the Common Council was looking ahead to next summer.
At its meeting this week, the council authorized the mayor to sign and execute an agreement with the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce for the Year 2009.
The chamber will receive $23,000.
Of that, they had $10,000 earmarked for the Independence Day Parade. Another $3,000 would be used for Veterans’ Stage concerts.
Pumpkin Fest gets $2,750. Taste of Oswego receives $2,375. Project Bloom gets $3,000 and the farmers’ market gets $2,375.
However, the resolution was amended prior to its passage. The dollar amounts for each event were removed.
That way, councilors said, it would allow chamber officials to move funds from one event to another as needed.
The council also approved Steven Thomas’ request for a landfill permit for property located on the north side of Route 104 East.
A public hearing was set for 7:10 p.m. Dec. 8 regarding a proposed change of zone for certain property located in the Seventh Ward from an R-2 Residential District to a Planned Development District.
A developer is seeking to build upscale housing there.
The mayor was authorized to accept the transfer of ownership of the John D. Murray Firefighters Museum to the city.
He was also authorized to sign and execute an agreement with the New York State Unified Court System for maintenance of the court facility.
The agreement provides the means for the city to seek partial reimbursement for cleaning and maintenance of the space provided for the City Court as well as 100 percent of the improvements that are made.
The city accepted the proposal ($12,500) submitted by Barton & Loguidice to perform a structural analysis of the Midtown Parking Facility and authorized the transfer of funds to pay for it.
The council authorized the City Attorney and Personnel Director to prepare a request for proposals for legal services for labor relations.
The Acting City Chamberlain was authorized to execute the necessary accounting procedures to prepare all funds and accounts for the Year 2008 closure.
And, councilors approved the use of the concession stand located in the Crisafulli Ice Rink by the Oswego Buccaneer Boosters and Oswego Minor Hockey Association.
