Meteorologist Kate Thornton was on campus starting at 4:45 a.m. for a live weather update before heading inside to meet with some of OHS’ best and brightest for live segments during the NewsChannel 9 morning news.

Among Thorton’s interviews were members of the OHS Oswego County Academic Youth League, who claimed the top ranking at last month’s first OCAY competition of the year.

The Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team also got a chance to shine coming off its Section III Championship last week.

Thornton, a former volleyball player herself from Saugerties, NY, joined in with the team for a practice session ahead of this weekend’s state playoffs.

Capping the morning’s festivities was a live performance by the OHS Marching Buccaneers, who recently capped off its competition season at the New York State Field Band Conference Championships at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

“We’re extraordinarily proud any time we get a chance to show off our students’ amazing achievements and today’s live broadcast was a great opportunity to do just that,” said Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey. “From academics to athletics to extracurricular activities, Oswego High School is a place where great things are happening each and every day.”
