East Side Oswego Man Charged With Growing Marijuana

OSWEGO, NY – On June 7, Oswego Police were alerted to the possibility of marijuana plants being grown on the roof at 100 E. Ninth St.

Oswego Police investigated the complaint and discovered 69 marijuana plants growing in pots on the roof; the roof of the building being accessible by various apartments in the building.

Oswego Police seized the plants and continued their investigation.

On June 8, police executed a search warrant at Apartment 1 of 100 E. Ninth St., and discovered approximately 14 additional marijuana plants.

Police seized the contraband and subsequently arrested 49-year-old Andrew J. MacMillen of 100 E. Ninth St., Apartment 1, Oswego.

MacMillen was charged with unlawfully growing cannabis (A misdemeanor) and third-degree criminal possession of marijuana (E felony).

MacMillen was later released on an appearance ticket returnable to Oswego City Court on July 1.

The investigation into the case remains on-going.

According to Police Chief Michael J. Dehm Jr., “The investigation in this case is on-going, but it was initiated by information that we had received regarding a suspicious condition.
