OSWEGO – Adventure at Burritt’s had its grand opening on July 19th. The store is filling a big gap in marine needs that Oswego residents must go out of town to get fulfilled. They also will be selling ATV’s, snowmobiles and plows.
Burritt has been trying to get the property that now houses Adventure at Burritt’s for around ten years. It is near Burritt’s Chrysler and Chevy dealership, as well as his collision center. 55 years ago, Burritt’s family opened their Chevy dealership in Oswego. Burritt, the fourth-generation owner of the Burritt dealership, decided to expand, starting with the Chrysler dealership.
“There is nowhere to service any powersports or marine products,” said Burritt. Despite Oswego being considered a port city, there aren’t any stores of its kind in the area. Once acquiring the property, Burritt was astute in recognizing this and bringing this missing service that many Oswego residents undoubtedly can make use of. With the addition of Adventure’s at Burritt, City Line Road in Oswego now has 30 acres of Burritt businesses.
“It’s 30 acres of commercialized property of basically anything you can drive,” said Burritt, “we’re trying to create a self-sufficient eco-system where it’s one place where you can trade or sell anything that people can drive.” With all his businesses on the same road, Burritt can quickly bounce between each store throughout the day, ensuring his presence at each store during the time of operations.
Jay Lorenz will be the general manager of Adventure at Burritt’s. Lorenz was a general manager at a boat dealership in Cicero for several years, where he met Burritt. Lorenz and Burritt were frequent customers of each other; Burritt went to Lorenz for boats, and Lorenz went to Burritt for cars. “I always told hey if you ever want to open a boat dealership just let me know,” said Lorenz, “The opportunity to work with Rich in the marine and power sports business in my hometown is fantastic, it’s like a dream come true. I plan to finish my career here; I’m all in.”
Adventure at Burritt’s is now open and will be open Monday through Saturday, opening at 9 AM and closing at 5 PM, except on Saturdays, when the store will close at 3 PM.
