Family Fun At Oswego Speedway Benefits Farnham

OSWEGO, NY – The roar of the Supermodifieds at Oswego Speedway was replaced over the weekend with the shouts of children having fun.

Farnham Family Services partnered with Oswego Speedway, Radio Disney, Red Planet Skate Park, and Dougherty’s Rides and Inflatables of Syracuse to bring a night of family entertainment to the Port City.

The fundraiser, held in the pit area of the Speedway, included several inflatable rides, on-air radio personalities from Radio Disney, face painting, games for all ages, music, and much more.

“This is really a great event,” said Jeanne M. Unger, MS, executive director of Farnham. “It’s nice to see such a large turnout. It’s for everybody – it’s a real family event.”

“It’s an opportunity for people to get out and have some family fun and see what kinds of services Farnham has to offer,” added Fred Maxon, board member.

“It was fun. But it was kind of hard getting out of it,” the youngster admitted.

Radio Disney held contests for the youngsters. And they had one for the parents, also.

The parents had to form a circle, holding hands and pace a Hula Hoop around the human chain. When the DJ stopped playing music, whoever had the hoop hanging on them was eliminated. The last person standing was the winner.

Besides activities for the kids, Radio Disney also allowed adults to get in on the fun.

After the game, Meghan Bell decided to give the Hula Hoop a spin.

“It’s hard to keep it going,” she lamented.

Undaunted, she keep trying until she got the plastic hoop to revolve around her a couple of times.

The community event benefited Farnham Family Services’ $50,000 Campaign Appeal for 2008, and its student assistance programs.
