Fatal accident investigated by Troopers in the Town of Granby

Fulton, NY – On October 30, Troopers from the Fulton Barracks were dispatched to a 2-car motor vehicle accident on County Route 8 in the Town of Granby.

Investigation at the scene determined that a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup truck, operated by Michael J. Cali, age 63 of Granby, was exiting the driveway of his residence, turning north on County Route 8.

At the same time, a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, operated by Mathew S. Bivens, age 33 of Fulton, was southbound on County Route 8.

Cali pulled in front of Bivens’ vehicle which resulted in Bivens attempting to take evasive action.

Bivens drove into the Northbound lane, striking Cali’s vehicle head on.

Cali was transported by Menter’s Ambulance to University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment of a leg injury.

Bivens was transported by Menter’s Ambulance to the Oswego Hospital Emergency Room.

Bivens was then flown via Mercy Flight to University Hospital where he passed away shortly after his arrival.
