Fights Result In Serious Injury, Multiple Arrests

OSWEGO, NY – City police responded to two reported assaults today (Nov. 9); a college student was seriously injured in one and a police officer was assaulted in another.

At approximately 3:02 a.m. today, Oswego police responded to the area on 141 W. Bridge St. for a reported fight in-progress.

Upon arrival, one adult male victim was located at the scene who had apparently suffered a severe head injury.

The victim was transported by Oswego Ambulance to SUNY Oswego campus where the victim was air-lifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

Responding officers from the Oswego Police Department took the suspect into custody on-scene.

The suspect involved was identified as Kevin T. Flanagan, 23, of 10510 South Riva Ridge Loop, Forth Drum, NY.

From initial reports, it appears that a verbal argument between the suspect and victim escalated into a physical altercation in which the defendant struck the victim.

There is no indication that a weapon of any type was used. The incident is being investigated by Oswego Police, and the suspect is currently being held at the Oswego Police Department awaiting arraignment on assault charges.

At last update, the victim, who was identified as a 19-year-old SUNY Oswego student, was listed in critical condition at Upstate Medical Center.

Investigators from the Oswego City Police Department are still looking into the details surrounding the incident and further charges may be pending as a result on the investigation.

At approximately 2:18 a.m., Oswego police responded to a fight in-progress in front of 39 W. Bridge St.

One of the responding officers, while assisting in the arrest of the subjects involved in the physical altercation, was assaulted by a third individual who was also taken into custody.

While officers attempted to quell the disturbance resulting from the incident, two other subjects were taken into custody at the scene for disorderly conduct.

The officer who was assaulted was later treated at Oswego Hospital for his injuries and released.

The following subjects were arrested at the scene:

Edward J. Becker: 21, of Baldwin, NY, and Robert W. Becker: 19 also of Baldwin.

Both Charged with disorderly conduct (Violation) and resisting arrest (A misdemeanor).

They were released on $100 bail, and are to appear in Oswego City Court on Dec. 4.

Brian C. Rohe: 22, of Baldwin, was charged with: second-degree assault (D felony), resisting arrest (A misdemeanor) and second-degree obstructing governmental administration (A misdemeanor).

He is awaiting arraignment at the Oswego City Police Department.

Also arrested were Devin M. Ronan: 22 of Oswego and Ryan Carbone: 20 of Oswego.

Both were charged with: disorderly conduct (violation).

Ronan was released on $100 bail.

Carbone was released on an appearance ticket.
