Firefighters Battle Kitchen Blaze

OSWEGO – Oswego Firefighters made quick work of a kitchen fire on East Seneca Street in Oswego this afternoon (October 22).

The resident came home to discover smoke coming from the eves of the home and called firefighters.

The fire was confined to the kitchen with smoke and water damage to the first floor and basement.

No injuries were reported.

City fire investigators are determining the cause of the fire.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, kitchen fires account for more than 160,000 fires in American homes per year and account for more than 5,000 deaths and $1.1 billion worth of damage.
