House Fire Displaces Three People

SCRIBA – At approximately 09:50AM on Sunday July 10th the Scriba Volunteer Fire
Corporation was activated through the Oswego County 911 Office, for a reported house
fire at 17 Skyline Drive. On arrival fire was found in the rear of the residence and in the
attic space.

The house was occupied at the time of the fire, the occupants were able to evacuate
prior to arrival of fire personnel. There were working smoke detectors in the residence.
No injuries were reported, there were several cats in the residence, most were rescued
and returned to the owners, all are believed to have escaped the residence.

The fire was extinguished as of 10:40AM. Additional personnel from the City of Oswego,
Minetto, Novelis, and New Haven responded to the scene. Volney provided personnel to
stand by for coverage. Additional support from Menter Ambulance, Oswego County
Sheriff’s Office, Border Patrol, New York State Police, and Oswego County Coordinator’s
Office was also provided.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Oswego County Fire Investigation
team. Red Cross assisted the occupants of the home with housing arrangements.
