OSWEGO, NY – For Rick Lockwood, the pet business is sort of a homecoming.
For the past couple of months, he has helped his girlfriend, Jennifer Seabury, the owner/operator of The Pet Store at 388 W. First St., across from the Oswego Post Office, in the former Glider Oil site.
“And before that, it was my grandfather JB Wilson’s business. I worked her pumping gas when I was a kid, eight years old. Right here in this building,” Rick said.
He previous operated Affordable Pets in Fulton and Avanti Bistro in Oswego.
“I’ve ended up back at square one. I live right behind here now which is where we use to live,” he added.
The Pet Store is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays.
The store offers a variety of critters, some soft and fuzzy, some feathered and some cold-blooded, It also has an assortment of food – for all types of pets – as well as the toys, bedding and other items no pampered pet should be without.
“We do fish, reptiles, small animals, birds and foods and other supplies; we’re a full-line pet store,” he said. “We just got our bait license, so we’ll be offering live bait, too.”
