Laker Hockey Players Featured Guests at Mini Golf at the Library

They’re great on the ice but let’s see what they can do on the golf course. Members of the SUNY Oswego Lakers men’s hockey team will be the featured guests at Mini Golf at the Library, sponsored by the Friends of the Oswego Public Library. Pictured are Phiona and Merrick Buck taking on Shane Bull of the Lakers.

OSWEGO – The Friends of the Oswego Public Library will host the annual Mini Golf in the Library event on Monday, Jan. 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All ages are welcome to play the specially designed course that takes participants throughout the library.

The cost is $5 per person and proceeds benefit the programs of the library. Refreshments will be served for an additional cost beginning at 11:30 a.m. A variety of themed baskets will be raffled as well.

Members of the SUNY Oswego Laker Hockey Team will exchange pucks and sticks for the day and take up clubs and golf balls to assist and challenge participants on this unique course.

The event will also include a contest to decorate a Fairway and Green that reflects either a landmark place in Oswego or a favorite book. Examples of landmark sites in Oswego include Fort Ontario, the Richardson Bates House Museum, the Riverview Walks, the West Pierhead Lighthouse, Breitbeck Park, the Maritime Museum and the Safe Haven Museum. Families, individuals, and organizations are eligible to enter. A $50 gift certificate to a favorite local business of your choice will be awarded to the best landmark design and to the best book or story design.

Decorations can be made from any materials that do not make a lot of mess. (This includes items such as glitter or confetti.) The Green area with hole is generally about a 4-foot square platform. Decorations must fit on the platform. The Fairways are approximately 3 feet wide and mostly travel between bookshelves. They are between 10 and 20 feet long.

To enter the contest, fill in the form on our website at: http://foloswego.com.

Entry forms must be submitted by: January 12. You must be able to set up your display on Sunday afternoon, January 14 from 3 to 4 p.m. Entries will be judged before the Mini Golf event begins at 10:30 a.m. on January 15. Entries will be judged on Creativity, Craftsmanship, Alignment with Theme and Overall Appearance.
