Legislature Chairman Leemann Announces He Won’t Seek Re-Election

OSWEGO, NY – Barry Leemann, chairman of the Oswego County Legislature and Legislator for District 4 (Amboy, Parish, and parts of Hastings and Williamstown) today announced that he will not run for re-election.

“It has been an honor and privilege to work with and represent the people in Legislative District 4. When my term ends, I will have enjoyed holding the office of Chairman of the Legislature for four years. I have always done my best and have put my heart and soul into the job,” he told Oswego County Today recently. “It is time for me to leave this position and spend more time on my farm, with my wife and family.”

In a statement released today, he continued, “I would like to thank every Oswego County resident, and especially the voters in District 4, for their support during my ten years in the legislature.”

Legislator Leemann was elected in 2001 and served as chairman of the Infrastructure and Facilities Committee, Buildings and Grounds Committee, vice chairman of the Strategic Planning and Government committee, and Legislature Majority Leader during his years as county legislator.
