Locals Abroad: Pennsylvania Paper Profiles Oswego Charter Captain

A nice piece in the Pottsville (Pa.) Republican-Herald about Oswego fishing charter captain Greg Gehrig.  He and his wife, Kris, operate K & G Guide Service and Lodge.

Greg Gehrig is a native of that part of Pennsylvania.  The paper’s outdoors editor caught up with him and his son at a trade show in Harrisburg.

The story reveals that the Gehrig’s son, Chad, is now a big part of the family business.  The paper quotes Greg:

“I guess my far-out vision was to have my son to join me in the business one day, but, just as we never forced him to play baseball, it was a decision we were going to let him make,” Greg Gehrig said. “None of this was forced on him, but I think he realized that no matter what he did in the long term, it wouldn’t equal what he would be able to achieve with what he has here.

“He’s learned about all aspects of running a charter business, from what it takes to keep a boat running, to how to catch fish and how to deal with clients. For someone who is 24 years old, he’s got a lot of experience, and I believe he’s got a lot of talent.”

The business also plans to add a second boat, with Chad taking over the original boat. missing or outdated ad config
