Mayor Barlow Announces Charles E. Gallagher Pool Opening June 26

Learn to Swim Program Sign Ups on June 28

 OSWEGO, NY – Mayor Billy Barlow announced the Charles E. Gallagher public pool will open on Monday, June 26, 2022. Free public swimming will be held Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m, while Saturday and Sunday the pool will be open from Noon to 5:00 p.m. Free family swim will be held Monday through Friday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Adults 18 and older must be present for family swimming.

The Learn to Swim swimming lessons program will be held on Wednesday. June 28, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m at the pool on a first come, first served basis. The cost to enroll in the Learn to Swim program is $10 for city residents, $30 for non-city residents. Participants must pay upon enrollment by cash or check only. Lessons are held in two-week sessions.

Mayor Barlow also announced new this year is a Handicap Accessible Chair Lift to allow individuals with disabilities to safely enter the pool.

“We continue our work towards making all public facilities and amenities in our community safe and accessible to everyone, including those with physical limitations. The new chair lift will allow for folks to enter and enjoy the pool who previously may not have been able,” Barlow said.

The ADA chair lift was installed as part of an on-going Energy Performance Contract the city has partnered on with Seimens.
