OSWEGO, NY – Mayor Billy Barlow announced today the City of Oswego will host a special grand opening event for the new William S. Cahill Pier on Wednesday, August 16. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting declaring the new pier officially open to the public followed by live music featuring The SkyCoasters. Th event is open to the public. Food trucks and drinks will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

The new William S. Cahill Pier project is the final waterfront improvement project to be completed under the Barlow administration. The almost $10 million project transformed the abandoned coal trestle into a waterfront community park on the pier. The dedication to Mayor William Cahill is a tribute to the former Oswego Mayor and local, professional fisherman who oversaw his own series of waterfront improvement projects during his time as Mayor in the 1980’s. Mayor Cahill’s family will be in attendance to celebrate the dedication by Mayor Barlow.
