OSWEGO – Mayor Robert A. Corradino today announced the appointment of Christopher Squitieri as the new Common Council representative for Oswego’s Seventh Ward. Mr. Squitieri will officially assume his duties following a swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Monday, July 21 at 6:15 p.m., preceding the Common Council’s committee meeting at City Hall.
The appointment follows the resignation of Councilor Peter Allen, who will formally step down from his position on Saturday, July 19. Mayor Corradino expressed gratitude for Allen’s dedicated service to the city and acknowledged the importance of maintaining uninterrupted representation for the seventh Ward.
“With the remainder of the year bringing important legislative discussions and ongoing community initiatives, it is essential that the residents of the Seventh Ward continue to have a voice in city affairs,” Mayor Corradino stated. “Mr. Squitieri brings a spirit of collaboration and a commitment to public service that will serve the ward well until voters elect a permanent councilor on November 4th.”
Mr. Squitieri expressed enthusiasm for his new role, saying, “I’m honored to step into this position and serve the people of the Seventh Ward. I look forward to listening, collaborating, and ensuring that our community’s priorities are represented at the Common Council meetings during this important transition period.”
Mr. Squitieri will serve in the interim capacity through the end of 2025, ensuring continuity and engagement on behalf of Seventh Ward residents.
