Oswego Common Council Handles Brief Agenda

OSWEGO – The Common Council sailed through a light agenda Monday night.

Councilors approved a budget amendment in order to purchase new dockage at the International Marina.

The request totals $58,343.21 for 10 units plus shipping and handling. Authorization was also granted to create a request for proposals for labor costs associated with the installation of the new dockage.

In other action, councilors approved:

The use of Washington Square Park (East Park) by the Oswego County Federal Credit Union in order to host “Movies in the Park.”

Road closures for the annual Harborfest Run to be held July 28.

The use of Breitbeck Park by the Oswego City Band for its annual Wednesday Night Summer concerts.

The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s request to hold its annual farmers’ market on Thursday evenings beginning May 24.

The use of public space by the Oswego Noon Rotary Club in order to plant a tree and rose bushes on May 2.

Councilors OK’d the Negative Declaration – Notice of Determination of Non-Significance for the Oswego Westside Waterfront Enhancement (Oswego River Dock Project).

The proposed action will not have a significant adverse impact or effect on the quality of the environment, the Community Development Director said.

The Community Development Director was authorized to submit an application for the Bridge NY Program.

The city is applying for funding for two specific activities – to rehabilitate and replace bridges and culverts. There will be two application submissions; one will be for culverts and the other for the bridge project.

Councilors rescinded Resolution No. 49, dated February 12, 2018, and then approved a new resolution to reflect who will perform electrical repairs to the east and west side fire stations.

And the council approved the fire chief’s request to attend the First Line Supervisory Training Program to be held April 15 – May 11 in Queens.
