Oswego County Couple injured in Motorcycle Accident

LYSANDER, NY – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a motorcycle accident in the 2100 block of West Genesee Road (Route 370) near the Interstate 690 underpass in the town of Lysander, which injured two people.

This evening (August 23) at approximately 5:14 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies along with rescue personnel from the Plainville Fire Department and GBAC Ambulance responded to the 2100 block of West Genesee Road (Route 370) near the Interstate 690 underpass for a reported motorcycle accident.

Deputies investigating the accident, report that a couple from Oswego County were traveling westbound on their 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle when a Ford F150 pickup exiting a driveway pulled out in front of them causing the operator of the motorcycle to brake abruptly and lose control.

The motorcycle operator and passenger suffered serious injuries after being thrown from the bike.

Both were transported to Upstate University Hospital, where the male driver is currently being treated for a hip injury while the female passenger is being treated for a serious head injury.

No vehicle contact was made between the pickup truck and the motorcycle and the operator of the pickup truck remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

West Genesee Road between Dexter Parkway and the Interstate 690 remains closed while members of the Sheriff’s Accident Investigation Team processed the scene.

The road is expected to reopen by 9:30 p.m.

The identity of the injured couple will be released tomorrow morning.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
