OSWEGO — Oswego High School students Grace St. Onge and Richard Whitney have each earned the School Recognition Award and the Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award through the College Board National Recognition Program, according to a news release from the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation.
The program recognizes students for their academic achievements. Both students said receiving the awards was a major honor and expressed gratitude for their families’ support.
“I think it is very meaningful for me. I worked very hard to get my SAT score up, and it is very meaningful that I am being recognized. I would like to thank my family who are there to support me,” St. Onge said.
“Hopefully it helps a lot with my college applications, and I am just grateful to receive them. I would like to thank my parents for helping me out and for helping me study when I needed to,” Whitney said.
Students may qualify based on their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10 or Advanced Placement exams, along with meeting grade-point average requirements.
Students who claim their awards and participate in the College Board’s Student Search Service may also connect with colleges and universities interested in recruiting them, the release said.
