OSWEGO, NY – An Oswego man is facing welfare fraud charges,
At 11:39 a.m. on Tuesday, Derrick R. Williams Jr., 54, of 38 Birch Lane Apt. 35B, Oswego, was arrested for third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony; third-degree welfare fraud, a class D felony; and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a class E felony.
The charges stem from the investigation into an incident in which he allegedly obtained Food Stamp and Medicaid benefits of more than $5,000 due to not reporting incomes to the Oswego County Department of Social Services.
Williams was arraigned in the Town of Volney Court by Hon. Judge Kerfien and ROR’d.
He is to appear in Town of Mexico Court on April 17.
