Oswego Man Sent to Prison for Auburn ‘Ponzi Scheme’

The Citizen of Auburn reports that Jamell Morgan, 22, of 2081 County Route 1, Lot 9, Oswego is headed to prison for up to eight years.

Morgan received a sentence Tuesday of 2 to 4 years in prison for felony theft. It will be served after he serves a 2 to 4 year sentence imposed by Oswego County courts for a similar charge.

According to the article, Morgan’s lawyer asked for the sentenced to be served together, but the judge said no:

After reviewing Morgan’s criminal history, which includes three felony convictions, 15 arrests and a lengthy juvenile record, Judge Mark Fandrich denied the request.

“You have a horrible record coming into my court,” Fandrich said. “I understand you have very serious challenges, but part of my job is to protect the public from habitual felony offenders such as you.”
