OSWEGO –  Following the recent statement issued by City of Oswego Mayor Robert A. Corradino concerning the events of September 30, 2026, when U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents attempted to apprehend individuals on private property that day, Mayor Corradino has provided the following update:

“The New York State Attorney General’s Office, Office of Immigration Trust has made inquiries and a request for information from city officials on the circumstances surrounding events on September 30, 2026. Out of an abundance of caution and in no way believing the City of Oswego, or any of its personnel did anything in violation of federal, state or local law, the City Attorney has certified to the Common Council that he needs the assistance of outside legal counsel to assist him in the City’s response to the Attorney General’s inquiries. I support this action. Several years ago, the City of Oswego retained the services of Barclay Damon LLP to assist us with a similar matter, and the city was well served by the law firm’s professional handling of that matter. It is my belief that a majority of the Common Council, likewise, supports this request.”

The City of Oswego Common Council will take up this request during its next meeting to be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, beginning at 7:30. The public is invited to address the Council during a public session scheduled to begin at 7:15 that evening.
