Oswego Police Announce 2 Drug Arrests

OSWEGO, NY – On Sept. 23 at approximately 10:10 p.m., pursuant to ongoing investigations into illegal drug activity, members of the Oswego City Police Department Anti-Crime Team, assisted by members of the Criminal Investigation Division, stopped a Ford Ranger pickup truck in front of 223 E. Tenth St.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 53-year-old Rodney T. Lortie, of 220 E. Sixth St. (upper apartment), Oswego.

Further investigation and interview of Lortie found him to allegedly be in possession of Hydrocodone pills and a quantity of marijuana.

Lortie was arrested and charged with one count each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (B felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell (B Felony) and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana (violation).

He was arraigned in Oswego City Court and released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to reappear on Oct. 18.

On Sept. 29 at approximately 6 a.m., pursuant to ongoing investigations into illegal drug activity, members of the Oswego City Police Department Anti-Crime Team executed a search warrant at 1965 County Route 1, town of Scriba.

Also assisting were members of the Oswego City Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and Special Response Team as well as members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department and United States Border Patrol.

Upon a search of the residence, police located and seized nearly three pounds of marijuana, including several marijuana plants, as well as numerous items of paraphernalia commonly used in the production and consumption of marijuana and other illegal substances.

Nathaniel E. Swett, 36, of 1965 County Route 1, Oswego, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Second Degree (D felony), and Unlawfully Growing Cannabis (A misdemeanor).

Swett was arraigned in Scriba Town Court, where he was released on his own recognizance with a scheduled return date of Oct. 6.
