Oswego Police Caution Residents: Lock Your Vehicles

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego City Police Department wishes to alert citizens to a series of vehicle entries that have been occurring.

Police have received numerous reports, over the past few weeks, of vehicles that were entered and some that had their contents either damaged or stolen.

The department wishes to remind citizens to lock their car doors and not to leave valuable items in their vehicles.

From June 1 through 30, the Oswego City Police Department has investigated 36 reports of vehicles that have been illegally entered.

Some entries have resulted in stolen items other have resulted in damaged property.

In most cases, the vehicles entered had been left unsecured in some fashion with either the window(s) left down or the doors unlocked.

Two simple methods to avoid becoming a victim to these types of crimes are:

  • Secure your vehicle by rolling up the windows and locking the doors.
  • Don’t leave items of value in the vehicle.

Also, be a good witness.

If you think that you may be a witness to a crime, or if you see someone who appears suspicious in your neighborhood, contact 911 as soon as possible with the information so the police can investigate.

As always, if citizens have any information regarding these, or any other, criminal activities, we ask that they contact the Oswego Police Department at (315) 343-1212 or callers may also contact the Crime / Drug Tip Line (315) 342-8131 where information may be given anonymously.

Citizens may email any information to Oswego Police at: [email protected] missing or outdated ad config
