Oswego Police Continue Suspicious Death Investigation

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego City Police are continuing their investigation into the March 14 death of a 44-year-old woman.

Police investigators are working with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the exact nature and possible causes of the fatal injuries.

Investigators are also continuing to follow up leads, and speaking to persons of interest as the investigation progresses.

At this time Oswego Police are exploring many different scenarios as to the cause of the victim’s injuries, Capt. Tory DeCaire said today (March 16).

“There have been many accusations and rumors surfacing recently regarding the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death of Mrs. Parkhurst. Without getting into the specifics of the investigation, we do not believe that the injuries were caused by an intentional, targeted or random act of violence,” Police Chief Michael Dehm said. “I would like to make it perfectly clear that, in this case, there is no evidence that indicates that anyone in the community is now, or ever was, at an increased risk.”

If information changes or new information develops that contradicts that assessment, Dehm said the department would immediately notify the media to disseminate the information as quickly as possible.

Oswego Police continue to urge anyone who has information regarding the incident to contact the department at (315) 342-8120. missing or outdated ad config
