Oswego Pride Committee Request Use of Breitbeck Park for Oswego Pride Festival

The 6^th Oswego Pride Festival is planned for September 13^th, 2025. The Oswego Pride Committee hopes to move this year’s festival to Breitbeck Park.

Gary Smith, president of the Oswego Pride Committee, spoke at the meeting. “We’ve had the festival since 2014, and we’ve gone through various changes and locations throughout the years,” explained Smith. “we have kind of outgrown previous locations, which is a good thing to deal with, so we’re looking to move it to Breitbeck Park this year.”

Smith and his committee have already gone down to the park to pre-plan their event, and he looks forward to not being as restricted by space as they were in the past. “The pavilion for the music part of the show will be perfect. I’m very excited to move it there, include more local vendors, and not be as restricted by space as we were in the past,” said Smith.

Syracuse Shakespeare in the Park is to host two performances of Shakespeare’s plays “Othello” and “Twelfth Night”. “Othello” is a tragic play about a military commander, and “Twelfth Night” is a comedy about twins.

The plays will be performed at Veteran’s Park. “Othello” is scheduled for June 17^th, 2025, and “Twelfth Night” is scheduled for August 6^th, 2025.

The meeting saw the approval of the following requests:

• Request from Kristin Graves to host the Annual Trinity Turkey Trot 5k on Sunday, November 16^th, 2025.
• Request from David Thompson to host the Annual Michele Wink Memorial Golf Tournament Celebration on June 14^th, 2025.
• Request from Oswego County Workforce New York (OCWNY) to host their Spring Job Fair on May 22^nd, 2025.
• Request from the Oswego City School District to host the Leighton and Kingsford Elementary Annual Triathlon on June 8^th, 2025.
• Request from Great Oswego Fulton Chamber of Commerce to host the Oswego Farmer’s Market on Thursdays from June 12^th to October 9^th, 2025.
• Request from Mercedes Niess from the H. Lee White Maritime Museum to host the 2025 Paddlefest on July 19^th, 2025.
• Request from Oswego Health to host a Donate Life Donor Ceremony on April 23^rd, 2025.
• Request from Robert Nelson for the use of public space to host the Boy’s Box Lacrosse League at the outdoor Lacrosse box throughout the summer.
