Oswego Town Man Facing Felony Drug Charge

FULTON – On Monday (February 29), at approximately 1:15 p.m. investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force approached a 2002 Mercury Villager as it was parked in a parking lot at 260 S. Second St. in the city of Fulton and interrupted an alleged sale of heroin.

DTF investigators had previous information that the operator of the vehicle was involved in the possession and sales of heroin.

The operator of the Mercury, David A. Sweeney, 32, of 445 Bunkerhill Road, Oswego Town, was found to allegedly be in possession of 48 bags of heroin and approximately $800 in US currency.

Sweeney was arrested and criminally charged with the following:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, intent to sell – Class B Felony
Aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 2nd degree – Unclassified Misdemeanor

Sweeney was arraigned in Fulton City Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond.

He is due to reappear in Fulton City Court on March 10.

This investigation is ongoing and further arrests and charges are possible.

The Oswego County Drug Task Force is comprised of members from the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office, Oswego County Sheriff’s Department, NYS University Police at Oswego, U.S. Border Patrol, Fulton City Police Department and Oswego City Police Department.
