Oswego Woman Charged With Attempted Murder

OSWEGO, NY – At approximately 5:55 p.m. on May 14, Oswego City Police were dispatched to 183 E. Tenth St. for a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival, police discovered 58-year-old James Harrington suffering from a severe stab wound.

Also on scene, according to the police report, was James’ wife, 65-year-old Sandra Lee Harrington, also of 183 E. Tenth St.

Subsequent investigation determined that Sandra Harrington had stabbed her husband in the back with a large knife.

Mrs. Harrington was taken into custody and transported to the Oswego City Police Department, where she was subsequently processed on charges of second-degree attempted murder (a class B felony), first-degree assault (a class B felony) and fourth-degree criminal possession (a class A misdemeanor).

Mrs. Harrington was arraigned by the Honorable Oswego City Court Judge James Metcalf and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bail bond.

The victim was transported to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, where he underwent surgery and is currently listed in guarded condition.

While the stabbing appears to be the result of a domestic argument, Oswego Police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
